The menu, while concise, offers a daily rotation of warm dishes that promise generous portions and exceptional flavors. Guests can indulge in dishes like homemade beef stew served with gnocchi or a tantalizing octopus salad, both of which have garnered rave reviews for their quality.
One standout recommendation is the must-try 'pogača,' a delectable creation featuring onions, tomatoes, and salted anchovies, baked to perfection in a closed dough. These flavors encapsulate the essence of traditional Croatian cuisine.
While the drink selection is a bit limited—no beer or desserts on offer—the fantastic wine selection and attentive service make up for it. Diners have praised the home open Vugava for its quality, enhancing the overall experience at this hidden gem.

“ Came here with my girlfriend a couple nights ago, we ordered the risotto and the daily special which was a homemade beef stew with gnocchi and it was superb, it was made even better by great service and amazing jazz music playing all night! The music and the setting is which made the meal 10x better! Thank you ”
“ We had the tuna salad and small fish salad, both excellent. The menu is quite short though and they don't have any desserts (or beer). The place itself is worth a visit, it's like a postcard. You feel you went back in time to the 1940s when the nearby airport was working. Very rare to find something like this in Croatia nowadays. ”
“ When you visit this restaurant be prepare to travel some decades in the past. That really adds charm to the place. Soft jazz music is perfect, too. We only had two dishes, cheese plate and octopus salad, which were fair, their home open Vugava was very good, too. It is a bit off road but certainly worth visiting. ”
“ Lovely, simple, 'times passed by' restaurant. Some menu options are constant, like cheeses, pršut and the likes, including the 'pogača' which is a must, consisting of onions, tomato and salted anchovies baked in closed pizza like dough . Warm dishes are changed daily, are on the larger portion side and super tasty. Great wine, great service and a great location with a soul. A must visit when on the island of Vis! ”
“ Amazing local and seasonal dishes, make sure you order from a daily menu. ”
“ Stopped for an early lunch. Was the best decision of the day. The red wine is easy drinking and the food tasty and delicious. The vegetable platter had a good selection and the tuna salad have very Mediterranean taste. A 10/10 from us. ”
“ Came across this place by chance but it was so good we would have happily come anyway! Stopped for a drink but stayed for food which was prepared with local ingredients and absolutely delicious! Staff were super friendly and hospitable as well. All to a backdrop of old school jazz. Perfect for a stop off before sunset on Mount Hum. ”
